2 Days in Riga – What to do and see

Riga, the charming capital of Latvia nestled along the Baltic Sea, beckons travelers with its blend of rich history, stunning architecture, and vibrant atmosphere. Whether you're a photography enthusiast seeking hidden gems or a culture aficionado eager to delve into the city's past, Riga promises a delightful European weekend getaway. In this guide, we unveil the essential experiences for maximizing your 48 hours in Riga.

Riga is amazing for photographers. Avoiding the crowds in your shots is not really a challenge as Riga is not the most touristy cities in the world. Additionally, you can hit a lot of the best spots in the city even if you are only spending 1-2 days in Riga. That said, if you don’t want to rush and have some time to just linger, I recommend a minimum of 2 days in Riga.

How to get to Riga

I travelled by bus from Vilnius to Riga with the Lux Express. Coming from Tallinn you can also take the Lux Express Tallinn - Riga.

Alternatively, Riga Airport (RIX) serves as a gateway for international travelers, boasting connections to major European cities. From the airport, convenient bus services or rideshare options like Bolt facilitate swift transit to the city center.

There is no need for a car. In the center you can easily reach the most important sights on foot and even if you want to go a bit further outside the bus service is very well developed!
