About Me

Bali Canggu Hostel
MY NAME IS...
Nina

I'm a small town girl from Germany in her mid-twenties who has been traveling for the past two years. I'm also the adventure-loving, vegan-food-chasing photographer and writer who founded this travel blog.

Iceland Airplane

Prior to traveling and starting this website, I finished my studies in Business Administration. Only one day after submitting my bachelor thesis I hopped on a plane to New Zealand to start my working holiday experience. My plan was to stay for 7 months and go back to Germany to do my Master degree, but this adventure gave me the travel bug.

And I wanted more ...

I started TRAVELLING

After 4 months in New Zealand I decided to cancel my return ticket to Germany and extended my visa for the additional 3 months. I've travelled around the country for a total of 14 months and stopped every now and then to work for a few months.

The work included Kiwifruit picking & packing, as well as working on a hop farm to train the plants and later on for harvest. Neither the most comfortable nor the best paid jobs but I was still able to save a lot of money.

I also spent 1 month in Fiji in between to escape the cold winter for a bit. At the end of my visa I still didn't want to go back home to continue living my "normal" live in Germany.

So I decided to apply for a working holiday visa in Australia.

With enough money saved in my bank account I first went on a holiday for six weeks.

During that time I travelled around the South Pacific islands. I've been to Samoa, The Cook Islands and French Polynesia and seen some of the most beautiful places of this planet.

I can't even put into words how grateful I am for that opportunity. I know that I am extremely fortunate to have experienced all of this. But this page is to inspire you and give you tips so you too can do it.

In Australia I've been working as an Au Pair. It's been the most challenging job of all and I did not enjoy it. I'll write a separate blogpost about it soon.

As I did not like it and have already seen everything I wanted to see in Australia except Tasmania I have decided to go there on a roadtrip and leave the country afterwards.

In 2020 I've started my Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh, India.

So far it's been a trip that truly changed my life.
I made friends with the most inspiring people from all around the world, learned about new cultures and experienced things that I never thought possible.

Let me tell you just one more thing: it's not just a rosy holiday. I've been through numerous ups and downs, had a few, actually a lot of mental breakdowns. Struggled a lot from time to time and cried my lungs out wanting to just go home.

But it was all worth it. I've already learned and grew so much from these experiences. I met so many amazing people who now I call friends and family. And met others who broke me, taught me a lot and pushed me onto a new path. To everyone who I crossed paths with I'm so grateful for you.

What's
Next?

All I can say is that it was not easy for me to accept to travel home earlier. Beforehand, I asked myself if I would feel like a stranger in my home country and if I would have difficulties to fit back in again. Honestly, it was, but every day I enjoy being back home more and more and have some kind of routine.

Only now, after all these journeys, I realize how beautiful my home country is and what I still have to discover.

As soon as possible I will finish my yoga teacher training in India and make up for my planned trip to Nepal.

I am sure that I will always have a serious case of wanderlust, but I definitely want to focus more on sustainability and want to lower my carbon footprint. Both in my daily life and when I travel.

Therefore, this blog encompasses my love of travel alongside sustainability.

Hope to seeing you somewhere around the world!

Happy Travels.
