Bondi to Coogee

Even though it is often chosen to start the walk from Bondi, I recommend you to go from Coogee to Bondi. I just think it is much nicer in this direction and afterwards you can relax on Australia's most famous beach Bondi Beach, cool down or sit in a cute café.

During this coastal walk you pass six gorgeous beaches on a stretch of approximately six kilometres and several small bays. From the cliffs you enjoy a breathtaking views of the ocean. You can of course take short or longer breaks everywhere, enjoy the atmosphere and listen to the waves. For a comfortable walk you should plan at least two hours.

If you have the time, you can also continue the walk to Maroubra or, if you decided to go the other way, from Coogee to Maroubra. That's an additional three kilometres.

Here you can also find the official homepage of the Bondi to Coogee Walk if you need more information and a map.

Manly Beach to Spit Bridge

Another popular walk is the Manly Scenic Walkway from Manly to the Spit Bridge. To get to Manly, simply take the ferry from Circular Quay which takes you to the wharf in around 30 minutes. In my opinion, Manly is one of the most beautiful and cosy places in Sydney.

This walk takes you through Sydney's breathtaking bushland with impressive views of the sea and the skyline as well as past beautiful little beaches. The walk is well signposted and you will need about three to four hours for the almost 10km long distance. But better plan some more time, as the path is a little more demanding and you have to climb some steps.

South Head

This walk is great for everyone. You take the ferry from Circular Quay to Watsons Bay and walk along the cliffs to South Head. Once you arrive at the lighthouse, you will again have a great view over the ocean and can keep an eye out for whales. From here you also have a perfect view of the Opera House and Harbor Bridge. The way there and back is three kilometres long and pretty suitable if you want to take it easy or if it is too hot for a long walk.

Bradley's Head

Take the ferry from Circular Quay to Taronga Zoo Wharf. Start the walk from the zoo and follow the path to the viewpoint. The walk is not particularly strenuous and is great for enjoying the sunset overlooking the harbour.

If you want to walk even further from Bradley's Head, there is a path about four kilometres leading to Chowder Bay or even further to Spit Bridge if you haven't had enough of walking.

North Head

This walk also starts in beautiful Manly, from where a leisurely stroll leads along the coast to Shelly Beach and then through beautiful bushland towards North Head. Once there, the Fairfax Lookout offers an impressive view over South Head and the skyline of the city.
