It's A Backpackers Paradise!

Bali is a super budget-friendly destination. You can get so much for little money!
In this post I give you a detailed overview how much money I've spent in total backpacking around the islands for 19 days. But please keep in mind this includes my 7 days yoga course. You can easily deduct the costs to see how much you approximately need for traveling around Bali and Nusa Penida for 13 days!

FINDING CHEAP ACCOMMODATION:

On Bali there's something for everyone! Backpacker Hostels, Villas or Luxury Resorts. As a female solo backpacker I've only stayed in Hostels. They probably are your cheapest option if you are a solo traveler as well but if you are traveling with friends or your partner it might actually turn out cheaper to get a private villa or nice room in a hotel!

FINDING CHEAP FOOD:

I tried so much delicious vegan food on Bali. There are so many cafes you can chose from and all are super healthy and not expensive at all! Yes, it is definitely cheaper to eat in the local warungs but eating out is pretty affordably in general. The costs of food also include bottled drinking water.

FINDING CHEAP Transportation:

You should definitely consider renting a scooter! It's the easiest and fastest way to get around Bali. It would be good if you already have some experience as the traffic and roads are crazy. You also have the option to take a taxi/ book a private driver for a longer tour or trip or use the balinese uber for scooters, which I ended up using quite often as I did not want to drive a lot myself.

To get to Nusa Penida I recommend taking the ferry from Sanur. The prices of the different ferry operators should be the same.

I recommend taking a a taxi or uber to get to and from the airport, that's the most convenient option!

Reccommendations:

Activity Costs:

Most of the time you have to pay entrance fees to visit temples or waterfalls.

I also got two massages. One in Canggu and one in Ubud. I did not go for the cheapest but for good ones. There are so many studios, you can decide yourself what's important for you.

Optional Yoga Retreat:

I've decided to get a 7 days unlimited yoga classes membership at the radiantly alive yoga studio in Ubud. It was such an amazing experience and all I did was doing yoga for 3 hours a day and get some yummy vegan food in between. I totally recommend trying out a yoga class in Bali!

This is a suggested budget assuming you’re staying in hostels (dorm rooms) where possible but eating out all the time, and renting a scooter plus driver on Nusa Penida. I loved eating out and trying all the fancy vegan cafés so you can definitely lower the costs for food. Please keep in mind that I did not deduct the food and accommodation costs in Ubud for the 7 days I only did yoga. You can always lower this number. However, if you stay in fancier accommodation or book a private driver, expect this to be higher!

I’ve always wanted to visit Bali! It LOOKS so expensive, but it’s good to know that it doesn’t have to be! I’m not a hostel girl, so I like knowing that some good villas might actually be even cheaper.

I hope you’ll get there soon! And it’s not expensive at all and villas are so beautiful, some hotels are great as well 🙂 And it’s even better if you’re not traveling solo as you can split the costs 🙂

Thank you Melissa 🙂 And yes, there are still so many amazing options besides hostels! And if you’re not solo traveling I would actually recommend looking into booking a villa as they are also pretty affordable 🙂

It’s such a great destination for every budget! And you don’t necessarily have to stay in hostels. Hotels and villas are a great option too without spending a fortune when you’re not a solo traveler 🙂
