I took the ICE (or TGV on the way back) from Stuttgart to beautiful Strasbourg. With the BahnCard 50 and a 10€ voucher, it only cost me 46€ for the return trip and I was in Strasbourg within two hours without changing trains!
Strasbourg is probably one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and can be explored very well on foot. I'll show you what you should not miss in Strasbourg.
Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Strasbourg
The impressive Strasbourg cathedral is located right in the city centre. The ascent to the viewing platform of the South Tower via 322 steps is highly recommended. You can only climb up a narrow spiral staircase in one direction and should not physically underestimate it.
At the top you will be rewarded with a fantastic view over the roofs of Strasbourg. There are also a few places to sit and rest before heading down again.
La Petite France
La Petite France, with its picturesque old town, is Strasbourg's most romantic district. Here you can take a walk along the canal through the many winding alleys.
Walk along the Ill
You can cross the Ill over flower-decorated bridges and admire the sweetly colourful half-timbered houses on the banks of the river.
Barrage Vauban
The bridge and the four striking towers are among the most popular photo motifs in Strasbourg. On the opposite side, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Strasbourg towards the cathedral from the viewing platform on the bridge.
La Place Gutenberg
In the heart of the city is the Gutenbergplatz with a beautiful traditional carousel.
Amorino - Gelato
In the Amorino - located opposite the cathedral - you get probably the most beautiful ice of Strasbourg. Choose your favourite varieties from an unusual assortment and create your own ice-cream-rose. They also offer a range of vegan varieties. Perfect for hot summer days!
